Within Resonance

In the constant flow of modern life, we are surrounded by energy. Energy that can lift us up, challenge us, but that often just exists around us, and through which we each have to constantly navigate. It forms a continuous layer of sensory ‘noise’. When this input builds up and our senses become overstimulated, is it still possible to rest? Can we find peace without having to leave the noise behind entirely? Can we find rest within the flow, rest in motion?

‘Within Resonance’ invites you to explore this tension. In this immersive, music-driven performance, composer and multi-instrumentalist Alex H Smith takes you on a journey through meditative sound-scapes and groove-based classical/jazz fusion. Layers of sound build, intertwine and disappear again, inviting presence and deep listening to an abstract musical narrative. What will you discover ‘Within the Resonance’?

Within Resonance is my first fully solo performance, with a programme of self-composed music for solo percussion, piano and live electronics.
Created with support from Schouwburg Noord (Antwerpen, BE), the premiere performance is set to take placein their beautiful main hall on October 8th, 2026.

Booking information

Within Resonance is a 40 minute performance for a solo musician.
Originally created for presentation scene-sur-scene it is perfectly suited to non-traditional performance spaces and audience layouts, though it is also equally suited to a conventionally staged concert performance.
