Meer Dan Kna(ap)
Elyne Notebaert & Aïcha Cissé
Meer Dan Kna(ap) is a theatre performance created by actress and writer Elyne Notebaert with director Aïcha Cissé (who is also a fellow teacher in Buren).
The piece reflects on Elyne's experience of life with achondroplasia (or life as a little person), while breaking down stereotypes that exist within theatre and society in general. Elyne gives an insight into life with AP in a performance full of authentic lightness, humour, and depth.
The premier of Meer Dan Kna(ap) will take place on 11/10/24 in Arenberg, Antwerp. Click here for info and tickets
I was commissioned as a performer/composer to create music live on stage to accompany particular scenes. The music pieces are essentially pastiches of popular music genres, selected to build an immediate connection to the scenario.
In other words, we aim to use music as scenery; to set the stage for Elyne to perform in.
The genres selected include house, techno, big band and ambient instrumental. In order to reproduce these styles alone on stage I'm working with Ableton live and kontakt to allow me to play with live looping of high quality sampled instruments.
